PAKISTAN FLOOD EMERGENCY APPEAL
Pakistan Flood Emergency
The heart-wrenching toll of the floods that have engulfed our communities is nothing short of devastating. As of 01/09/2023, we mourn the loss of 42 precious lives, leaving families shattered and communities in mourning. The suffering extends beyond human tragedy; over 7,000 innocent animal lives, our companions and livelihoods, have also been lost. The vast expanse of rice fields, stretching across thousands of acres, lies in ruin, casting a shadow over our future food security.
Thousands of lives have been impacted in Districts such as Kasur, Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar and Wahi. Other districts within Pakistan are all suffering from this natural disaster. Families have been left devastated. Children have not been able to attend schools. Livestock has been lost which is a great loss to those who have very little.
The scale of this tragedy stretches from District Kasur with its 200 villages, through the 300 villages spanning District Pakpattan to Bahawalnagar, and further to the 120 villages in Bahawalnagar to Wahi. Yet, let us not forget that the impact is felt far and wide, as other districts too bear the heavy burden of this calamity.
Once again, Pakistan finds itself in the grip of a devastating flood, leaving a trail of destruction and despair in its wake. This calamity has struck with unwavering force, affecting thousands of lives across various districts, including but not limited to Kasur, Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar, and Wahi.
Amidst this chaos, the exact number of damaged homes and places of worship remains uncertain, hidden beneath the relentless floodwaters. As we anxiously await the waters to recede, the reality of our losses will become painfully clear.
Regrettably, the impact of this natural disaster extends beyond these districts, engulfing many others in its unforgiving waters. The consequences have been profound and heart-wrenching.
Families, already struggling with daily challenges, now face overwhelming devastation as their homes, belongings, and livelihoods are swallowed by the floodwaters. The repercussions resonate widely, disrupting the education of countless children who are unable to attend schools in the wake of this disaster.
Moreover, the loss of livestock compounds the misery, dealing a severe blow to those who already possess very little. The spectre of uncertainty looms large, and the immediate future appears daunting for these affected communities.
In these difficult situations, SKT has swiftly mobilised its resources to establish Flood Relief Camps. Within these havens, the most essential needs—such as hot meals and shelter—are being met, offering a glimmer of hope amidst the darkness.
The provision of tents, a simple yet vital solution, ensures that those who have lost their homes find a semblance of safety and security during this disturbed time.
In this dark hour, we stand united in our resolve to extend a helping hand to those in need. Together, through our collective efforts, we can begin to heal the wounds of our communities and rebuild the lives shattered by these relentless floods.
